May, 2007: Mother's Month

First, Mother's Day on 5/13: John surprised me with MD brunch at the Denver Botanic Gardens. It was a lovely day and after the delicious meal the 4 of us roamed around the gardens taking advantage of the lovely backdrop for some photo ops. Thanks to Becky for the use of her passes!


One of my favorite memories will be Anne Peyton presenting me with a card from she & Tommy, and subsequently a violet in a little pot she painted at day care, and proclaiming, "MINE"! :)


Then, Anne Peyton and I jetted off to Greensboro, GA May 24-29, leaving the boys at home to fend for themselves. Greensboro is home of the mothers! Namely, mine (known to AP as "Nonney"), my grandmother (known to grandkids & greatgrandkids as "Gammy") and my Auntie Jane (known to AP as "Aunt Jammie"). AP had been talking about "doe Dorda" (going to Georgia) for months, so she was in great spirits for the longish flight out. It was a simply wonderful weekend, filled with lots of opportunity just to play in mom's gorgeous yard & garden and contemplate life on her front porch. Thanks to some thoughtfully-arranged field trips, AP also got to visit some donkeys, chickens, and goats! She got a great lesson in gardens from Aunt Jammie, a golf cart ride with Jane and Bob (Uncle Boble), and had a grand time swatting flies on the front porch with her Gammy, not to mention some sprinkler & pool time. And, we got a 4-generation photograph taken (still haven't seen the proofs, but have high hopes that at least 1 of the 200+ taken will turn out OK. AP wasn't terribly cooperative in the smile department).
